Mohammad Ali Road Festival – Hyatt, Pune.
Ramadan is an exciting time for foodies and there is no place like Mohammad Ali road in Mumbai to savour the delicacies the festival has to offer. Not everybody can take this gastronomic pilgrimage, so Eight Eight, Hyatt decided to bring it here to Pune! I would like to thank both Hyatt as well as Food Prowl for inviting me to experience this amazing food festival.
The decor is tastefully furnished to recreate the feel of Mohammad Ali road with kites, colourful lighting and many stalls. There are a variety of live counters like Chaat, Ice Gola and Paan. Along with the starters, mains and dessert, Salad, Continental as well as Oriental dishes are also available too.
What is most striking is the amount of research and attention to detail put in to make the menu authentic. The Chefs actually visited Mohammad Ali road and other specific places to make sure the recipes and techniques were as close to original as possible. The festival is going on till Ramanad Eid on 26th June 2017 priced at Rs. 1300 and is worth every penny.
We were served lip-smacking kababs like Chicken Tangdi Kabab, Seekh Kabab, Gurda Kalejee (Liver) kabab, Paneer and Chaap. Each kabab was wonderfully cooked and very flavourful.
The mains (Mutton Nalli Nihari – Chicken Korma – Haleem) were very aromatic and flavourful, though a touch mild. But the meat was cooked to succulent perfection. The curries were a treat to scoop up with the rumali rotis and parathas on offer. The Chicken Bohri Pulav was superb.
The crazy selection of Indian sweets like Gulab Jamun, Phirni, Mawa Jalebi and Ras Malai were ravishing. But the cherry on the cake was the mind-blowing Malpua with rabdi made fresh in front of your eyes.
We ended the delicious meal with some Suleimani Tea. A highly aromatic and relaxing spiced black tea.
The Mohammad Ali festival was an amazing experience, bringing a bit of the culture and tradition of Ramadan to Pune. The carefully curated menu and attention to detail is what made all the difference. Highly recommended for everyone to try.
Special Mention – Thank you Shyam Sharma for some of the amazing photos.
